Walk 9/2 Water Taxi to West Seattle/Alki

The King County Water Taxi is a passenger only ferry running between Pier 50 in downtown Seattle to Seacrest Park in West Seattle. Let's do a fun afternoon/evening trip that'll include a round trip on the water taxi (starting and ending at Pier 50), and a nice walk along Alki Beach while we're over in West Seattle. You can catch a dinner at the Marination Ma Kai restaurant right by the water taxi dock, then take in the views of the cityscape in the evening sunlight as we cruise back to downtown. We'll be traveling to and from Seattle via the 512 double tall bus and the Link Light Rail. Trip fee includes all the transportation fees, but dinner is not included.

Expected Conditions:

We'll be walking from the Symphony Light Rail station down to the waterfront, and catching the water taxi at Pier 50. When we get to West Seattle, we'll walk the (paved) path along Alki Beach, going out and back for a total of 3-4 miles. All walking is relatively easy, but there will be a 100-foot descent (and ascent on the way back) to and from the light rail station. Expect to be walking until around 5:30 or 6:00pm, at which time we'll arrive at the Marination Ma Kai restaurant and you can grab dinner (or pack your own food). We'll take the water taxi after that, arriving back in downtown Seattle around 7:00 or so, and make our way back home.

Other Considerations:

Remember that we're meeting inside the Everett Station in the lobby. You may or may not be able to find parking in Lot A, so allow extra time to park and walk to the station. Any type of comfortable walking shoes will be fine for this trip. Trekking poles are not recommended. Expect to be in crowds of people. Here is the menu for Marination Ma Kai. Note that we won't be walking the Overlook  Walk on the waterfront. It is farther north than we need to go, and would add too much extra time to our agenda.

I need all trip participants to update and submit a Hold Harmless Form for 2025.  Click here to go to the form page.
