Walk 3/26 Saratoga Woods - Whidbey Island
Thursday, March 26, 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM
5 miles, 300 feet elevation gain.
Meet at Everett Station Park & Ride Lot --
B

Get out and about and join us as we explore the second-largest trail system on Whidbey Island. Located near Langley, three adjacent natural areas (Saratoga Woods, Putney Woods, and Metcalf Trust Trails) offer over 20 miles of peaceful walking in the woods on mildly hilly terrain. We'll make a meandering loop that samples all three areas, and goes right by Waterman Rock, the gigantic glacial erratic that is one of the largest discovered in the state. We'll ferry over and back on the Mukilteo Ferry (ferry fee included in trip cost).
Expected Conditions:
Conditions on the trails at Saratoga Woods and adjoining Putney Woods should generally be in good conditions, with the usual early-season messes possible (wet or muddy areas, downed trees/limbs). There are some mild ups and downs along our route, but nothing rugged or difficult. Our route will begin and end at the trailhead on Saratoga Road, elevation about 140 feet. The highest elevation we reach is about 300 feet. Look for some early signs of spring in the woods.
Other Considerations:
Wear good traction hiking shoes or boots for this walk. Trekking poles may be useful at times for some, others will find them unnecessary. Park food and water in your pack and plan to have a lunch break while out on the trails. Note that we are taking the Mukilteo-Clinton ferry both ways on this trip.
I need all trip participants to update and submit a Hold Harmless Form for 2026. Click here to go to the form page.
