Enjoy some nice groomed skiing at either or both of these trail systems along the I-90 corridor east of Snoqualmie Pass. There are easy, moderate, and challenging trails to suit the desires of any skier, and the scenery is serene. No expensive trail passes needed here, so you can have your workout on the snow and feel like you've gotten your money's worth.
Expected Conditions:
Cross country ski areas are limping along through this feeble winter, but there are trails that are being regularly groomed, and we will find some skiing for this trip. We can hope for a fresh coating of snow before the 7th, but whether it will be enough to drastically improve the conditions, time will tell. As of the end of January, people are skiing at the trails near Crystal Springs Sno-Park, and these trails have had regular grooming. The Palouse to Casscades Trail from Hyak to Crystal Springs has been groomed also. The Lake Easton area does not have adequate snow, so that's not an option unless things change. Our plans will most likely be to ski the Ehrling Stordahl Trail System at Crystal Springs. We may spend the entire day there, or possibly consider other nearby trails if better conditions are available elsewhere (Cabin Creek or Hyak, most likely). You can ski about 3-4 miles there without repeating trails, or slightly less if you stick to easier trails. Depending on conditions, we can return to the van for our lunch break, or stay out on the trails and have a break out there.
Other Considerations:
Make sure you have skis, boots, and poles in good condition for the trip. There are no trail passes needed at any of the areas we will visit, other than the Sno-Park sticker that is already on my van. Pack some food and water in a small pack. If conditions are good, we'll stay out on the trails and have a lunch break out there.
I need all trip participants to update and submit a Hold Harmless Form for 2026. Click here to go to the form page.
