THE Best spring hike for strong legs!!! Admire the fabulous wildflower displays and snow-capped mountain views from this sunny, southern exposure trail above Icicle Creek near Leavenworth. This steadily-climbing path offers a chance to test your endurance and see how much elevation you can climb-- or take your time to stop and smell the flowers.
Expected Conditions:
The road to the trailhead is open, and the trail is in generally good condition. The trail starts along Icicle Road at about 2200 feet and climbs steadily all the way up to the ridgetop at over 7000 feet. You go as high as you want within our timeline. There were about 3 dozen trees over the trail according to a recent report, but many of these may be at high elevations that most of you won't get to. Snow should pretty much be gone. Flowers should be great, but be alert for ticks and rattlesnakes, which occasionally are found along this trail.
Other Considerations:
Wear good traction hiking shoes or boots, and use trekking poles for the ups and downs. Pack PLENTY of water for this hike, since water is not really available after the first half-mile up. Much of this trail is out in the open, so sun exposure will be a concern if the temperatures are warm.
