Walk 10/7 Lake Keechelus Fall Color Walk
3-7 miles, minimal elevation gain. SIGNUP BEGINS JULY 7.
Trip description
This is a walk on the "P2C" which refers to the Palouse to Cascades Trail, formerly known as John Wayne or Iron Horse Trail. It's the route of the cross-state railroad that now is a multi-use trail. The section passing 6-mile long Lake Keechelus is one of the most scenic parts, and makes a very leisurely stroll through the Central Cascades, with the vine maple providing brilliant color alongside the trail. We'll start at the eastern end of the lake, and how far you go is up to you. Go out and back the way you came, or if you feel energetic, go all the way to the Hyak Trailhead at the west end of the lake-- about a 7-mile walk. Sorry, no bikes on this trip, just walkers.
