Two or three days of easy to moderate hiking with numerous options.

Trip description

This will be a three-day, two-night trip to beautiful Manning Provincial Park, located in the heart of the Cascades, just north of the border. Our lodging will be in two very comfortable Premium Cabins at the Manning Park Resort, in the heart of the park. The cabins have full kitchens, multiple bathrooms, and sleeping in 4 different areas (2 bedrooms, a loft area, and the living room. There are 7 beds in each cabin, and we will have up to 5 or 6 people staying in each cabin. Here is a video tour of one of the premium cabins: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugUWO0-dlow We'll be preparing meals (2 breakfasts, 2 dinners) in our cabins, and group members will share in the purchase, preparation, and clean-up for meals. Lunches will be packed in your backpacks and eaten while out on the trails (weather dependent). We'll be hiking in the park each of the three days we are there. The parks has many miles of trails, ranging from valley-bottom walks along lakes and rivers, to high country rambles with stellar views and golden larches. Those who prefer easy, gentle hikes will have a number of trail options to suit your tastes. Those who want to do some elevation and explore the spectacular larch forests in the park will be able to do that too. GENTLE HIKES (up to 5 miles, 400 feet gain): Lightning Lakes, Similkameen Trail, Three Falls Trail, Lower PCT. LONGER HIKES: Frosty Mountain (premier larch hike in BC Cascades- 10 miles, 2400' gain), Heather Trail (7 miles, 1000' gain). Trip will depart from Everett Station Lot B on Thursday 10/8 at 7:30am. You'll need a passport or enhanced drivers license to cross the border. We should arrive at Manning Park shortly before noon. That afternoon will include a short hike before we check into the cabins at 4pm. Day two (Friday) will feature hiking along with relaxing at the cabins, and day three (Saturday) will have more of the same. Check out time is 11am, but we won't head for home until around 3:00pm, with a return to Everett slated for around 7:00pm. One bedroom in each cabin is private (queen bed), one bedroom in each cabin has multiple beds and will be shared by 2 or3 people. Beds in the loft area are semi-private, as is the pull-out couch in the living room downstairs. If anyone NEEDS to have a private bedroom, I will make that option available for $150. Once those have been claimed, that option will no longer be available. More complete trip details will be emailed to participants in late September.
