Hike 6/20 Mount Zion Wild Rhodies
4 miles, 1300 feet elevation gain.
Trip description
This is hands down one of the best wild rhododendron hikes in the state, and we're going to go at the peak of the season. The Mount Zion trail is off the beaten path, far up a forest road in the eastern Olympics near Quilcene. A well-built trail leads up through a magical forest festooned with the giant pink rhody blossoms. There are plenty of other delights too, from unusual forest wildflowers to the mossy-green understory beneath mature evergreen trees. At the mountaintop, there are scattered views of the Olympics and Cascades. Trip fee includes the ferry cost.
