Hike 4/25 Horse Lake Mtn. - Wenatchee
7 miles, 1800 feet elevation gain.
Trip description
The sprawling 4600-foot hill west of Wenatchee is sometimes known as Twin Peaks, and on the official maps is shown as Horse Lake Mountain. It's a rich habitat where the sagebrush country meets the open pine forest country, and in the springtime, with blue skies above and blooming wildflowers at your feet, it's a slice of heaven. Let's hike all the way to the top and check out the views that range from snowy Cascade peaks down to central Washington plains. A maze of roads and trails offer plenty for hikers, mountain bikers, runners, and horse riders to choose from. We'll start from the Number Two Canyon Road and ascend the south slopes of the mountain. The steady uphill will give a good workout, and the surroundings will provide more than ample reward for our efforts.
