Hike 10/17 Red Top Lookout
4 miles, 1600 feet elevation gain.
Trip description
This is a fun hike to a lookout cabin perched on a mile-high precipice that straddles Teanaway Ridge, not far from Blewett Pass. We'll be hiking up the Blue Creek Trail on the east slopes of the mountain, which gives a nice workout, but is not overly taxing. The east-side location means a better chance for good fall weather, and a chance to spot a few Western Larches. The area is also a rockhounding site, where agates, geodes, and other treasures are frequently found. The views here are particularly nice to the Stuart Range, Mt. Rainier, and a host of mountains and valleys of the central Cascades. Note that fires of 2025 did not affect this area.
