Bike 5/16 Vedder Rotary Loop Trail, BC

13+ miles, minimal elevation gain.

Trip description

Discover a wonderful unpaved path that forms a 13-mile loop along both banks of the Vedder River near Chilliwack, BC. This is a favorite spot among locals for biking, jogging, dog-walking, and just hanging out at the many scenic parklands along the way. Much of the trail route is through undeveloped wetland areas, giving the ride a very peaceful and secluded feeling. The backdrop of the river and surrounding mountains is a frequent sight, and the bird and wildlife watching is top notch as well. The Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve and it's beautiful interpretive center is a must-see stop along the way. Road bikes with skinny tires are not recommended for this trail, but most other bikes will be fine. I will be parking the van and trailer at Vedder Park and will be leading the group in a "stay together"-style. Depending how long the loop takes, and people's energy levels, we may extend the ride to explore more of the area.

Meet at Everett Station Park & Ride Lot A. Look for large white passenger van.
