Snowshoe 3/15 Surprise Creek (alternate for Lanham Lake)
Stevens Pass got up to 7 feet of fresh snow in the previous week. This area was lower, but there was still 3-4 feet of the new stuff.

Everything was draped in a heavy coating of the fresh snow.

No one had ventured up the trail since the deep snows fell, so we had tough work breaking trail.

The outbound trip took over three hours, but coming back in our tracks took only about an hour.

A strange sight on the short road section leading to the trail

This SUV was buried in the mounds of new snow. Wonder what the story was?
