Snowshoe 1/17 Whiteface
We walked across Highway 2 to start the trip. The Yodelin parking area is about 1.6 miles east of Stevens Pass summit.

Walking the 0.8-mile road through Yodelin Village. There are around 40-50 vacation homes in the village.

Frost-covered trees. These were in shady portions of the valley where the sun doesn't reach

Much of the terrain was gentle, trackless forest, so our route just weaved through the trees

Lichtenberg Mountain looms above a clearing alongside Nason Creek

Crossing Nason Creek on a snow bridge.

Whiteface comes into view from a clearing at about 4500 feet elevation.

Working our way toward the top. Views were absolutely perfect

Mount McCausland at left, Lichtenberg Mountain at right, from near the top of Whiteface

Taking a well-earned rest at the top of Whiteface

Lichtenberg Mountain. Lake Valhalla is tucked below the rocky face at left

Glacier Peak was nicely in view

There was a chilly wind at the top, so we had to choose a comfortable spot out of the wind.

Broad views of the central Cascades

Great job everyone!

Carefully picking our way down an icy slope near the top

The cold dry weather has created lots of curious snow formations
