Hike 7/4 Guemes Mountain Sunset and Fireworks
Causland Park in Anacortes features stone artwork and a shelter. We had our dinner outside in the park.

Evening view of Guemes Channel and part of Cypress Island

Coming into the Guemes Landing after the 5-minute crossing

Drove around the perimeter of Guemes. Had a view of Cypress Island here.

Stopped at Youngs Park near the northern tip of the island. Good view here of Guemes Mountain, our next destination.

Sign at trailhead. A nice trail was built here about 15 years ago.

Heading up through forest toward top of Guemes Mountain.

Arrived at the top half an hour before sunset.

Mount Baker shed some clouds to reveal a nice view

The magic hour, just as the sun sets.

We then went to the beach at a nature preserve to see Anacortes' fireworks show.

The show was a couple miles away, but still fun to watch over the water, listening to the sound of the waves.

It was a cool, breezy evening on the beach. Glad we brought some blankets.
