Hike 12/13 Snoqualmie Pass PCT (alternate for Twin Lakes Snowshoe)
Snoqualmie Falls, still looking impressive even though the volume of water was 80% LESS than at the peak of the flooding

Falls was still kicking out a lot of spray

Rainbow created by the misty spray from the falls

This is what 10,000 cfs looks like. The flow maxed out on 12/11 at 68,000 cfs!

Saw a herd of about 20 elk at Meadowbrook Farm

We've walked the trails here at the farm, a lovely spot near the foot of Mount Si

Wonder if the elk were appreciating the sunny weather

The herds tend to spend most of the year in the valley here, and can be frequently seen

Snoqualmie Summit ski area, strangely bare on Dec. 13

Hiking on the PCT south from the pass. Starts out in trees...

...but quickly breaks out into the open ski slopes, with nice views of Snoqualmie, Guye, Red, and Kendall Peaks

View eastward, with fog hanging over Lake Keechelus

Beaver Lake and Guye Peak

Shady trail section near Beaver Lake

Red Mountain

Normally on a mid-December Saturday, the lifts would be packed with skiers and snowboarders

Granite Mountain

More views of the pass peaks

Twin Lakes, our original destination, is normally a 3.5-mile one-way on trails and roads.

The road was driveable within a mile or so of the lake, but this washout stopped my van
