Hike 11/18 Orcas Island - Moran State Park
The morning ferry to Orcas had scenes of clouds and sunshine

The ferry stopped at the Lopez Island landing, where I stopped this madrona improbably clinging to a cliff

Next stop, Orcas Island

Moran State Park dates back to 1921, when former Seattle mayor Robert Moran donated much of the land.

Mountain Lake scenery

Pausing for a lunch break on the shore of Mountain Lake

I believe these are kokanee salmon, which are similar to sockeye salmon but remain in fresh water

Mountain Lake Loop trail is very nicely built, smooth, and wide throughout

Lots of handy trail bridges to take you easily over streams

Glimpses of the lake through the forest

Mount Constitution rises above Mountain Lake

Blue sky adds a touch of color to the view

A sturdy bench with a serene view of the lake

Several small falls are found on Cascade Creek just below Mountain Lake. Rustic Falls seen here.
