Bike 5/16 Vedder Rotary Loop Trail
The Vedder Crossing Bridge near Vedder Park, where we began our loop route

Trail map, with our route highlighted in purple. We started from the east end, and rode along the north side of the river first, returning on the south side.

Much of the trail is wide, smooth, easy riding

The Vedder River is actually the same as the Chilliwack River, but changes names for some reason when it reaches the lowlands.

This is an important salmon river, and very poopular with fishermen.

Sample of the trail scenery

This trail has more benches and porta-potties than any trail I've ever seen.

A peek over my shoulder

A narrower section through dense trees on the river banks

There's a nature preserve with a nice visitor center, seen here across a slough.

It was called the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve, but the only heron we saw was this stuffed one in the V.C.

We crossed the river at the west end of the trail here. There's a nice separated path, so you don't have to ride on the road lanes.

Bikes crossing the bridge. In clear weather, there's a beautiful mountain backdrop here.

Riding a section of path behind a neighborhood. The Greater Chilliwack region has over 100,000 residents.

Nice signage along the trail. This trail was extremely well-signed, better than anything we have in the states. Canada values community resources like this.

Heading for the Vedder Crossing bridge, signifying the end of the loop.

I hope to return to this excellent trail again soon.
