Walk 4/24 Rhododendron Species Gardens
Friday, April 24, 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM
4 miles, 50 feet elevation gain.
Meet at Everett Station Park & Ride Lot --
Evt Station Lobby

Visit one of the largest collections of rhododendron species in the world, right here in our area, in Federal Way. The garden features about 850 species on its 24-acres, and with spring in full swing, it should be a great time to visit. We'll have a guided tour of the gardens, and will also visit the adjacent Pacific Bonsai Museum. It should be a treat for anyone who loves colorful rhody blossoms, fragrant azaleas, and wonderous plants of all shapes and sizes. Note that we will be taking public transportation all the way from Everett Station to the Botanical Gardens and back. Cost of transportation and admission to the garden and museum are all covered by your trip fee.
Expected Conditions:
We'll be walking quite a bit just getting to and from the gardens, including the nearly one-mile walk from the closest transit stop in Federal Way to the gardens themselves. Nothing should pose much difficulty, and the walking in the gardens is "tour-paced", so it's not continual effort. Our guided tour begins at 11:00am and should last around 90 minutes. We'll take a lunch break, then have time for an unguided tour of the Bonsai Museum.
Other Considerations:
Wear comfortable walking shoes. Hiking boots are not recommended. Trekking poles are NOT recommended. You will need to pack a lunch and water, which will be eaten after our tour at the Rhody Gardens. Note the change in the return time. We may make an earlier connection and return to Everett by 5:00, but plan on it being 6:00 just to be safe. Don't forget that we're meeting inside Everett Station in the Lobby. It'll be a Friday, so there should be adequate parking in the A lot.
I need all trip participants to update and submit a Hold Harmless Form for 2026. Click here to go to the form page.
