Hike 9/27 Hope and Mig Lakes

Hike 9/27 Hope and Mig Lakes

Soak in the peacefulness of these oft-overlooked lakes on the Cascade Crest south of Stevens Pass. Come along when the meadows are ablaze in fall colors and the wild blueberries are perfectly ripe, and you may just discover your new favorite hike. The first 2 miles of trail is steep at times, then gets much easier when we reach the Pacific Crest Trail.

Expected Conditions:

The trail to Hope Lake is in good condition, but expect a fairly steady, fairly steep climb, gaining 1200 feet in only 1.3 miles. By comparison, the continuation to Mig Lake, on the Pacific Crest Trail, is a picnic. The timing should be great for fall colors, especially the reds and oranges of the meadows near the lakes. Berry picking might be good too, so maybe bring a container for packing some home.

Other Considerations:

Highway 2 was scheduled to reopen on Saturday the 24th, and it should be open for our trip barring any unforseen developments. Make sure you wear good traction hiking shoes or boots for this trip, and poles are recommended for assistance with all the up and down.
