4 miles, 200 feet elevation gain.
Let's take a short excursion to Woodinville to discover a pair of natural areas that offer delightful trails amidst the hustle and bustle of suburbia. Brightwater Center was created in 2011 on 70 acres of land adjacent to a waste treatment plant. But don't be fooled-- some amazing work has been done to create a real community asset. Three miles of walking paths take you through restored wetlands, mature forest, and to several overlooks. There's also several art installations that add form and color to the landscape, and an Environmental Education Center where all ages can learn more about what goes on there. We'll also make a stop at a Woodinville city park containing the Greenbrier Trail, where WTA has just created (2023) a small network of trails in a forest-wetland habitat.
