Walk 3/14 Meadowbrook Farm Preserve
4 miles, minimal elevation gain.
Trip description
Come visit a historic and scenic area near the foot of Mount Si near North Bend. The prairie here has been a focal point of human activity for thousands of years, going back to when the Snoqualmie tribes settled here long long ago. Much of the 450-acre site was farmland for the natives and then the settlers that followed, and in the 1990's, the cities of Snoqualmie and North Bend procured the land and preserved it as public open space. It's a great spot for an easy walk with nice views and chances to see wildlife--including an elk herd that frequently is found here. As an added treat, we'll be accompanied by the president of the Meadowbrook Farm Preservation Association, who can tell us more about the preserve, its history, and maybe help us find those elk herds.
