Walk 10/4 Lake Keechelus P2C

3-7 miles, minimal elevation gain

Trip description

Get familiar with the shorthand "P2C" which refers to the Palouse to Cascades Trail, formerly known as John Wayne or Iron Horse Trail. It's the route of the cross-state railroad that now is a multi-use trail. The section passing 6-mile long Lake Keechelus is one of the most scenic parts, and makes a very leisurely stroll through the Central Cascades. We'll start at the eastern end of the lake, and how far you go is up to you. Go out and back the way you came, or if you feel energetic, go all the way to the Hyak Trailhead at the west end of the lake-- a nearly 8 mile walk. Sorry, no bikes on this trip, just walking.
