Snowshoe 3/7 Monahan Mountain
6 miles, 1500 feet elevation gain.
Trip description
This 3700-foot high mountain near Easton is pretty modest by Cascades standards, but what it lacks in height, it makes up for in the views that it packs. The route to the top is steadily up, up, up, but is relatively gentle, making it a good winter summit for snowshoers. Portions of the forest have been logged off, which opens up the extensive views to Kachess Lake, Lake Keechelus, and the I-90 east slopes corridor. An added bonus: even on a Saturday, it's possible to be the only party on the mountain. The crowds haven't discovered this one yet.
