Hike/Snowshoe 11/25 Tumwater Mountain

8 miles, up to 2800 feet elevation gain.

Trip description

Get a bird's eye view of Leavenworth from a 4400-foot elevation ridge top that rises high above the western edge of town. Look over in the other direction across the Wenatchee River Valley for a rare view of the colossal 1200-foot high Drury Falls. To get to the top, we'll ascend a series of roads and trails on the east side of the mountain. The snowline is likely to be fairly low by then, though it's possible we could drive partway up and shorten the hike. The snow depth will determine our mode of travel-- snowshoes may be needed if the snow is deep up higher. If you're up for a good workout, the payoff could be views that few get to see. If snowshoes are needed, and you don't have your own, the snowshoe rental for this trip is a freebie-- simply message me and I'll bring some snowshoes for you.
