Hike 8/22 Ross Lake East Bank/Water Taxi

Sorry, this trip is full. Contact Andy to be added to the waiting list

8 miles, 800 feet elevation gain.

Trip description

This trip gives you the chance to travel deep into the North Cascades, where you are over 8 miles from the nearest road-- and you don't have to backpack in there to do it. Thanks to the Ross Lake Resort's Water Taxi, day hikers can be whisked away into the wilderness in a matter of a few minutes. On this trip, we'll be taken from Ross Dam by speedboat to Rainbow Point, about 6 miles "up" the lake, and will continue hiking "up-lake" another 6 miles to Lightning Creek. The boat then comes to return us to Ross Dam. The hiking on the East Bank Trail is often along the water, mixed with sections that climb up to 200 feet above the shore and traverse through the forest. This is an excellent, well-maintained trail that is frequently hiked despite its remoteness. Note that most of the elevation gain (500 feet) is encountered at the end when you climb back up to Highway 20 from Ross Dam. The trip fee includes the shared cost of the water taxi service.

  • 120 US dollars
  • Meet at Everett Station Park & Ride Lot B. Look for large white passenger van.
