Hike 7/27 Wonderland:Reflection-Longmire

5.5 miles, one way hike. 200' elevation gain, 2200' elevation loss.

Trip description

Hike a section of the world famous Wonderland Trail around Mount Rainier. We'll set this up as a one-way, point A (Reflection Lake) to point B (Longmire) hike. I'll have a volunteer along to drive the van to our finishing point at Longmire. The route is mainly downhill, so very little elevation to gain (<200'). The trail is well-maintained and well-traveled, and should be in excellent condition with no significant obstacles, other than the many other hikers wanting to enjoy its wonders. We'll begin from Reflection Lake, elevation 4900 feet, and mostly hike down the valleys of the Paradise and Nisqually Rivers, finishing at Longmire, elevation 2800 feet. Most of the hike is in forest, but that doesn't mean there's nothing to see-- Reflection Lakes, Narada Falls, several other waterfalls, wildflowers in bloom, lovely side creeks, and yes, some glimpses of Mt. Rainier along the way too. You'll need to get up early, 'cause the park will be bustling even on a weekday.
