Hike 7/25 Emmons Moraine Trail
4 miles, 800 feet elevation gain.
Trip description
Observe the awesome scale of the largest glacier in the Lower 48 up close. Beginning from White River Campground in Mount Rainier National Park, a rocky, sandy trail leads onto the glacial moraine and looks out at the lower end of immense Emmons Glacier, and the stunning green lake that has formed below it. This hike also gives a stark first-hand look at how the glacier is shrinking, and how climate change is affecting the landscape at Mount Rainier. Trip cost includes the park permit fees.
