5 miles, 300 feet elevation gain.
Here's a nice mellow forest trail near Darrington that's snow-free and ready to hike weeks before many of the high country trails. The trailhead is near the White Chuck and Sauk River confluence, and the trail rambles easily along a near-flat section of forest a couple hundred feet above the riverbank. Spring wildflowers should be appearing here, and there's even a few surprise glimpses of the rugged mountain peaks high above. Note that we'll be hiking out-and-back from the west end of the trail only.
