6 miles, 500 feet elevation gain.
You could call this a Fidalgo Island Doubleheader. We'll take a pair of 2-3 mile hikes not far from Anacortes that both feature great views of the rugged shorelines along Rosario Strait. At Washington Park, we'll walk a loop route, looking for some of the spring wildflowers that begin to bloom on many of the open, rocky balds around the park. Then, after a lunch break, we'll drive south a few miles to Sharpe Park and hike the trail to the bluffs above the strait. This is one of the best madrona trails you're likely to find, as we'll see scores of the beautifully-sculpted trees along the way. And a bonus feature: we may get to see some daffodil fields on our drive back through the Skagit Valley.
