Hike 3/6 Capitol State Forest/Mima Falls
6 miles, 900 feet elevation gain
Trip description
Explore this large state forest outside Olympia and hike a loop route that is popular with the locals, but little known on this end of Puget Sound. The hike's climax is at Mima Falls, a small but handsome waterfall that should be flowing strong at this time of year. The sprawling Capitol Forest is a "working forest" managed by the state DNR, and covers over 170 square miles. There are 150 miles of trails here, used by an entire spectrum of recreationists. Our trip will be on the top rated trail (according to AllTrails) in the forest.
