Hike 3/15 Discovery Park

6 miles, 600 feet elevation gain.

Trip description

Most people have heard of this, Seattle's largest park, but have you really explored all of it's myriad natural and cultural charms? The list of attractions here is lengthy: miles of trails, sections of old growth forest, wetlands teeming with birds and other wildlife, a scenic lighthouse on the shore of Shilshole bay, a first class Native American cultural center, the historic grounds of Fort Lawton, bluff-top vistas overlooking Puget Sound, beaches, prairies, and... you get the idea. We'll hike a loop route that takes in every one of these features.
