Hike 12/17 Point Defiance Park Zoolights
3 miles, 200 feet elevation gain.
Trip description
Come and join us as we celebrate the holiday season, Alpine Andy-style. We'll make the trip down to Point Defiance Park in Tacoma for a Sunday afternoon "warm-up" walk leading up to sunset. We'll include a visit to the newest feature of the park, the must-see Dune Peninsula. The walk concludes at the zoo just in time for the popular Zoolights holiday lights extravaganza. Now in it's 35th year, this is a classic holiday tradition with over 800,000 lights brightening the zoo. Many of the displays are animal-themed, and there are a few mock-ups of familiar landmarks in lights as well. When you need a break from taking in all those lights, you can catch dinner right there at the zoo's Plaza Cafe, take a ride on the carousel, or shop the gift shop. Be sure to sign up before December 1, since I have to order tickets in advance for our specific time. Your admission ticket is included in the trip fee.
