Hike 10/5 Walt Bailey Tr/Cutthroat Lakes

6 - 8 miles, 1800 - 2400 feet elevation gain. SIGNUP BEGINS JUNE 21

Trip description

In the mountains east of Granite Falls, a cluster of small subalpine lakes sits in a lovely rocky basin below Bald Mountain. In fall, the meadows light up in shades of red, orange, and yellow, contrasting beautifully with the evergreen forest, the (occasionally) blue skies, and the sparkling lake waters. The trail to get in there is rough, rocky, and often wet and muddy, but those who are persistent are rewarded handsomely. If conditions are favorable, we can continue up high on Bald Mountain, perhaps gaining the views that overlook the large Spada Lake Reservoir to the south.
