Hike 1/24 Mount Walker

5 miles, 2000 feet elevation gain.

Trip description

Rising 2800 feet above Hood Canal near Quilcene, Mount Walker is the easternmost outpost of the Olympic Mountains. A good all-season trail climbs steeply to a pair of viewpoints at its top, which are stellar on a clear winter's day, giving broad views of both the Olympics and Cascades. Being in the rain shadow, the mountain doesn't get as much snow as most areas, so it can often be snow-free, even in January. Even when there is snow, the trail gets regularly visited, so there's usually a compacted boot path, and your traction devices will work well. We'll be taking the Edmonds Ferry on this trip, and will stop in Kingston for some "energy food" at the Borrowed Kitchen Bakery. Trip fee includes ferry cost.

90 US dollars
Meet at Everett Station Park & Ride Lot A. Look for large white passenger van.
