Snowshoe 3/16 Gold Creek Valley-- Last Chance?
Snowshoeing the Gold Creek Road

Not exactly dashing through the snow

Top of the trailhead sign, buried in several feet of snow.

We went a short way up the Gold Creek Trail from the end of the road

Carefully stepping down a steep embankment

Gold Creek is the centerpiece of this winter wilderness scene

Snowshoeing along the creek

The creek has many stretches that dry up during the summer, causing the fish to die and harming the ecosystem.

We saw very few people for most of the day. It was quiet and secluded out there.

On the trail around Gold Creek Pond

Partial clearing gave a few views of the surrounding mountainsides

Gold Creek Pond will be mostly filled in during the restoration project. Currently, it draws water away from the creek, harming the balance of nature.
