Hike 8/27 Guemes Island

Boarding the small ferry at Anacortes

The MVnGuemes has been in service since 1979, and is scheduled to be replaced by an all-electric ferry in 2025.

Arriving on Guemes, we headed for the Guemes Mountain Trail first

Trail is very nice and has handsome benches along the way

Arriving on top of Guemes Mountain

Panorama from the top. Visibility was limited but still nice views

Looking north toward where Mt. Baker might normally be seen.

Went to Youngs County Park for a lunch break by the beach

Checked out Peach Preserve, a small public nature area with trails through forest, wetland, and along the beach

A grassy clearing at Peach Preserve

Beach walking at Peach Preserve

Information about the preserve

View from the Guemes General Store, overlooking the ferry landing
