Hike 4/30 Ross Dam to Diablo Lake

We started here, where the highway 20 winter closure gate is located. Many bicyclists were riding the highway, free of snow and traffic.

Grand views begin almost immediately on the trail down to Ross Dam

Standing atop 500-foot-high Ross Dam

Water level in the reservoir is very low, but will rise dramatically in the next few weeks

Walking the "haul road" between Ross Dam and Diablo Lake

View of Pyramid Peak

At the base of Ross Dam, a footbridge crosses the river and connects to the Diablo Lake Trail

Partway up the climb from the river, looking back at Ross Dam and Powerhouse

Colonial-Pyramid group, across the valley from Diablo Lake Trail

A few wildflowers were seen, including these Indian Paintbrush
