Hike 10/2 Ingalls Pass Golden Larches
Hiking up through colorful open forest in the first mile
Esmerelda Peak overlooks the upper Teanaway valley
Esmerelda Basin, also a nice hike we've done in this area
Looking back as Mt. Rainier is just visible over Esmerelda Peak
Entering the wilderness area, and seeing the first golden larches, just below Ingalls Pass
At over 9400 feet high, and just 2 miles away, Mt. Stuart is enormous when first viewed from Ingalls Pass
Looking back at Ingalls Pass. We continued another half-mile or so to enjoy the larch groves
Walking gentle trail beneath a cluster of larches
Views like this at every turn in the trail
Ingalls Peak, with Headlight Basin below
My phone app says these are Fragrant Wood Fern
Descending the trail as the sun is about to sink behind Esmerelda
