Hike 10/18 Merritt Lake
Views began just above the trailhead, looking across the Nason Creek valley

Vine maple provided a whole spectrum of color along thew way

There were no golden larches on our trail, but I spied some far across the valley at tree line on the Chiwaukum Mountains.

Taking a break on a handy log halfway up

As we climbed higher, more boulders were mixed in with the color show

Merritt Lake sits at about the 5000-foot level, below the crest of Nason Ridge

Climbing above Nason Lake, the views expand to the south and east

Reaching the ridge crest, we could see snowy peaks to the north

Glacier Peak was visible from our high point

Chiwaukum Mountains formed a long divide to the south

Rocky trail--no problem

More views under the gray skies. Showers started about 2 pm

Admiring the colors on our descent
