Bike 5/1 Palouse to Cascades Trail

Sunrise through the Everett Station building

Starting our ride on a farm road outside of Kittitas

A view of the top of Mt. Rainier, some 70 miles to the west, from the first mile of our ride.

The Renslow Tressle bridge over I-90

On the tressle, high above the freeway lanes

The group crosses Renslow Tressle

Again on the tressle bridge

From the tressle, the next 5 miles were gently uphill on soft sandy trail-- hard work.

Arriving at Boylston Tunnel, the highest elevation of the ride at 2600 feet

Tunnel was 0.4 miles long. Took headlamps along to aid the ride through

Opposite end of tunnel was choked with brush

Reaching good trail again on east side of Boylston Tunnel. From here, 15 miles of gentle downhill to the Columbia River.

East end of Boylston Tunnel from above

The Beverly Bridge over the Columbia River

Columbia River, looking north toward Wanapum Dam

Beverly Bridge from the west side. This is where I re-joined the group after bringing the van down to Beverly

Riding a stretch of paved road-- better than the loose gravel trail along side it

At the bridge at the conclusion of the ride. Well done all!
